Anupam Kher is a highly acclaimed Indian actor known for his versatile performances in both Indian and international cinema. He made his acting debut in the 1982 film Aagman, but gained widespread recognition for his role as a retired middle-class man in the 1984 film Saaransh. Throughout his career, he has appeared in over 500 films across various languages, showcasing his ability to play both comedic and dramatic roles with equal ease. Kher has received numerous accolades, including two National Film Awards and eight Filmfare Awards. Beyond Indian cinema, he has gained international fame through roles in films such as Bend It Like Beckham, Lust, Caution, and Silver Linings Playbook. He served as the Chairman of the Film and Television Institute of India from 2017 to 2018.
