Jimmie Vaughan is an American blues rock guitarist and singer. He was born in Dallas, Texas, and is the older brother of the late blues legend Stevie Ray Vaughan. Vaughan first gained national prominence as a founding member of the Fabulous Thunderbirds in 1974. The band became a staple of the blues rock scene throughout the 1980s with hits like Tuff Enuff. In 1990, he collaborated with his brother Stevie Ray Vaughan on the critically acclaimed album Family Style. Following his brother's tragic death later that same year, Jimmie launched a successful solo career. His solo work is characterized by a clean, minimalist guitar style that emphasizes tone and phrasing over speed. He has released several solo albums, including Strange Pleasure and Out There. Vaughan is widely respected for his dedication to preserving the traditional Texas blues sound. He has been a frequent performer at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival.
