Johnny Knoxville is an American stunt performer, actor, and filmmaker best known as the co-creator and star of the MTV reality stunt show Jackass. Born Philip John Clapp in Knoxville, Tennessee, he moved to California as a young adult to pursue an acting career. He gained initial notoriety by pitching stunt-based article ideas to the skateboarding magazine Big Brother. These stunts eventually evolved into the Jackass franchise, which premiered on MTV in 2000. The show became a massive cultural phenomenon, leading to a series of successful feature films. Beyond Jackass, Knoxville has appeared in numerous mainstream movies including The Dukes of Hazzard, The Ringer, and Bad Grandpa. He is known for his fearless approach to dangerous stunts and his distinctively raspy voice. Throughout his career, he has sustained numerous injuries, including broken bones and concussions, due to his high-risk performances.
