Kajol is a highly acclaimed Indian actress who primarily works in Hindi cinema. She is widely regarded as one of the most successful actresses of the 1990s and 2000s. Born into the Mukherjee-Samarth film family, she made her acting debut in the 1992 film Bekhudi. She achieved her major breakthrough with the 1993 thriller Baazigar alongside Shah Rukh Khan. Kajol is famously known for her frequent and successful on-screen pairing with Shah Rukh Khan in iconic films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. She has won six Filmfare Awards throughout her illustrious career. Her performance in the 1997 film Gupt made her the first woman to win the Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Negative Role. She took a sabbatical from full-time acting in the early 2000s to focus on her family life. Kajol made a successful comeback with the film Fanaa in 2006. In 2011, she was awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian honor in India, by the Government of India. She is married to fellow actor and filmmaker Ajay Devgn.
