Linford Christie is a retired British sprinter who specialized in the 100 metres event. He was born in Jamaica and moved to the United Kingdom at the age of seven. Christie achieved his greatest success at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics where he won the gold medal in the 100 metres. He is the only British man to have won gold medals in the 100 metres at all four major athletics competitions. These include the Olympic Games, the World Championships, the European Championships, and the Commonwealth Games. Throughout his career, he was known for his powerful physique and distinctive running style. Despite his achievements, his career was also marked by controversy regarding doping allegations. He eventually retired from competitive athletics in 1997 after a long and decorated career. Following his retirement, he transitioned into coaching and mentoring young athletes in the United Kingdom.
