Mauricio Pochettino is a prominent Argentine professional football manager and former player. He spent the majority of his playing career as a central defender for Espanyol in La Liga and Newell's Old Boys in Argentina. He also earned 20 caps for the Argentina national team, representing them at the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Pochettino began his managerial career at Espanyol in 2009, where he spent three seasons before moving to the Premier League. He gained significant recognition for his tenure at Southampton, which led to his appointment as manager of Tottenham Hotspur in 2014. During his time at Tottenham, he transformed the club into consistent title contenders and led them to their first-ever UEFA Champions League final in 2019. Following his departure from Spurs, he managed Paris Saint-Germain, where he won both the Ligue 1 title and the Coupe de France. He later returned to the Premier League to manage Chelsea for the 2023–2024 season. In 2024, he was appointed as the head coach of the United States men's national soccer team. Known for his high-pressing tactical style, he is widely regarded as one of the most influential coaches of his generation. He is married to Karina Grippaldi and has two sons, one of whom is also a professional footballer.
