Momo Hirai, known mononymously as Momo, is a Japanese singer and dancer based in South Korea. She is a member of the South Korean girl group Twice, formed by JYP Entertainment. Momo began dancing at the age of three and was inspired to pursue a career in the industry after watching Namie Amuro. She was scouted by JYP Entertainment after the company saw an online video of her and her sister dancing. In 2015, she participated in the reality survival show Sixteen, where she was initially eliminated but was later brought back to join the final lineup of Twice. She officially debuted with the group in October 2015 with the EP The Story Begins. Within the group, she is widely recognized as the main dancer and is frequently praised for her technical skill and stage presence. Beyond her group activities, she has appeared in various television programs and music videos for other JYP artists. In 2023, she debuted as a member of the Twice sub-unit MiSaMo alongside fellow Japanese members Mina and Sana. She has contributed to the songwriting process for several of the group's tracks, including 'Shot Thru the Heart' and 'Love Foolish'. Momo remains one of the most popular K-pop idols from Japan and continues to influence the industry with her performance abilities.
