Sophia Laforteza, born Sophia Elizabeth Guevara Laforteza, is a Filipino-American singer and the leader of the global girl group Katseye. She was born on December 31, 2002, in Queens, New York, United States, but grew up in Manila, Philippines. Standing at 167 cm, she is fluent in both English and Tagalog. Her mother, Carla Guevara Laforteza, a well-known singer and actress, influenced Sophia's early exposure to performing. Laforteza began singing at the age of three and also took various classes in ballet, jazz, musical theater, hip hop, and tap dancing. She graduated from Multiple Intelligence International School in Quezon City in June 2021 with the highest academic honors. Sophia gained international recognition as a contestant on 'The Debut: Dream Academy,' a reality competition series by HYBE and Geffen Records. She consistently ranked high in fan voting during the competition. In November 2023, she was announced as the first member and leader of Katseye, making history as the first Filipino artist to sign with a HYBE label. Katseye officially debuted in June 2024 with their single 'Debut.'
