Fernando Torres is a retired Spanish professional footballer who played as a striker. He began his career with Atlético Madrid, progressing through their youth system to the first team. In 2007, he moved to the Premier League to join Liverpool, where he became one of the most prolific strikers in the world. He later transferred to Chelsea in 2011 for a then-British record transfer fee. During his time at Chelsea, he won the FA Cup, the UEFA Champions League, and the UEFA Europa League. He also had a loan spell at AC Milan before returning to Atlético Madrid in 2015. Torres was a key member of the Spain national team during their golden era. He scored the winning goal in the final of UEFA Euro 2008. He was also part of the squad that won the 2010 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2012. He remains one of the few players to have won both the Champions League and the World Cup. After retiring from professional play in 2019, he transitioned into coaching. He currently serves as a manager within the Atlético Madrid youth academy system.
