Mark Hoppus is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer best known as the bassist and co-lead vocalist of the rock band Blink-182. He co-founded the band in 1992 alongside Tom DeLonge and Scott Raynor in Poway, California. Throughout his career, he has been a central figure in the pop-punk genre, contributing to multi-platinum albums such as Enema of the State and Take Off Your Pants and Jacket. Beyond Blink-182, Hoppus formed the alternative rock band +44 in 2005 with his bandmate Travis Barker. He has also pursued a career in record production, working with various bands including New Found Glory and Motion City Soundtrack. In 2010, he hosted his own television talk show titled Hoppus on Music on the Fuse network. He is known for his distinctive bass playing style and his humorous stage presence during live performances. In 2021, Hoppus publicly announced that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. He underwent chemotherapy treatment and later announced that he was cancer-free. Hoppus has remained an active member of Blink-182, participating in the band's 2022 reunion with Tom DeLonge. He continues to influence the modern rock landscape through his songwriting and production work.
