Son Chae-young, known mononymously as Chaeyoung, is a South Korean singer, rapper, and songwriter. She is best known as a member of the South Korean girl group Twice, formed by JYP Entertainment. Chaeyoung auditioned for JYP Entertainment in 2012 and trained for three years before joining the reality survival show Sixteen. She successfully placed in the final lineup of Twice and debuted with the group in 2015 with the EP The Story Begins. Within the group, she is recognized for her distinct rapping style and her significant contributions to songwriting. She has written lyrics for several of Twice's tracks, including 'Eye Eye Eyes', 'Missing U', and 'Handle It'. Beyond her musical contributions, she is known for her artistic talents, often designing album covers and merchandise for the group. Chaeyoung attended Hanlim Multi Art School, where she graduated in 2019 alongside fellow member Tzuyu.
